Monte D'Oro Annual Ice Cream Social set for August 13 (07/18/16)
Our Ice Cream Social this year will be Saturday Aug. 13. The Children’s Parade is at 5:30 pm and leaves from Monte D'Oro Circle/Monte D'Oro Drive. The Social is at 6:00 p.m. at the Monte D'Oro cul-de-sac.

Our Ice Cream Social is a fun tradition, and it is our annual event with the biggest turnout. For the past two municipal elections the Neighborhood Association has invited the candidates for mayor and council to the Social so the Monte D’Oro neighbors could meet them. They will be here this time with any campaign material and will mingle and greet you.

Come out and visit with your neighbors and cool off with some delicious homemade ice cream. Neighbors are invited and encouraged to make ice cream. Please contact Eileen Lewis at eilewis@charter.net if you plan to contribute.

Monte D'Oro co-hosts Candidate Forum with BluffParkal.org (07/14/2016)
The Monte D’Oro Neighborhood Association announced today that it will partner with the Bluff Park community to sponsor the Hoover City Candidate Forum. This popular forum is a tradition in Bluff Park of bringing citizens and candidates together. For the first time, our neighborhood is taking another active role in being involved in electing the right leaders for Hoover. We appreciate BluffParkal.org and Heather Skaggs for the invitation to join this event.

Bluff Park and Monte D’Oro are both Historic Hoover Neighborhoods. There are more than 12 neighborhoods in the city of Hoover that are more than 50 years old. We want our leaders to keep the issues facing older neighborhoods in mind during the city’s planning process. If you have followed the Hoover Sun or Hoover Votes Facebook Forum, you will see that the most frequently mentioned issues are support for Hoover City Schools and the need for a comprehensive city plan.

Get more details about attending the Candidate Forum on our Meetings and Events page.

Street Resurfacing & Sidewalk Repair
Mayor Ivey has committed to a major road, drainage and sidewalk repair on Wisteria Drive between Monte D’Oro Drive and Monte Verde Circle this summer. The project is estimated to be between $300,000 - $500,000. The process is already underway and you may have seen survey teams and utility location lines in the area. It will be somewhat disruptive when construction begins but when finished there will no longer be standing water and mud on Wisteria and the sidewalk. Mayor Ivey has also committed to resurfacing Monte Verde Circle, Monte D’Este Drive and Monte D’Oro Way this summer.

Kindergarten registration
Kindergarten registration is on April 28. Visit here for more information and required documentation to register your child.

Dues Reminder
  • Don't forget to pay your annual dues of $30. Please make checks payble to Monte D'Oro Neighborhood Association and drop off at the home of Treasurer Frances Thompson, 3320 Monte D'Oro Drive.

Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Action Day(03/16/2015)
On March 16, 2015, the City of Hoover, Alabama proclaimed April 19th, 2015 as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Action Day! This proclamation was requested on behalf of Monte D'oro residents the Maalouf family. Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia is not well known but it can be devastating to those who have the condition. Our young neighbor, Luke Maalouf (born September 16, 2014) is living with it and his parents, Sam and Nadine are working hard to raise awareness for the need for more research.

Accepting the proclamation at the March 16, 2015 City Council Meeting from City Manager Allen Pate are John, Luke, Nadine, Sam and Mia Maalouf.
